Choosing the right destinations can make all the difference between a memorable motorcycle trip and an unforgettable one – especially if you’re travelling to the other side of the world to ride! At Guzzi NZ, we are often asked where our top places to visit on a motorcycle trip Downunder are. In the North Island, we rate Raglan as a must-ride coastal gem. For the South Island, Queenstown delivers scenery, world-class experiences and adventure at every turn.

Raglan: A North Island Classic
Starting in the central North Island, head west toward Raglan and you’ll quickly understand why it’s one of our favourite rides. Highway 22 is the real attraction here: a mix of tight corners, flowing bends, and wide open stretches. It’s the kind of ride that makes you appreciate the balance and character of a Moto Guzzi.
Raglan itself is relaxed and laidback, with its volcanic black-sand coastline, calm inner harbour edged in pōhutukawa, and a collection of local shops and eateries. Don’t miss browsing Tony Sly’s iconic pottery. For a memorable stay, the converted Golden Bay Cement silos on the wharf offer unique accommodation with sweeping harbour views and industrial-chic interiors. Fuel up with breakfast at Rock-it Kitchen before visiting Ngarunui Beach or Manu Bay, both are legendary surf spots to people watch (or catch a wave yourself!)

Queenstown: South Island jewel
In the South Island, Queenstown stands in a league of its own. A global adventure capital, a film-location favourite, and a gateway to wine country, it’s also simply one of the most visually striking towns you’ll ever ride into. Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountain ranges create a backdrop that you'll never forget.
When you're off the bike, we recommend boarding the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm. The combination of a lakeside buffet lunch and a working farm dog show makes it a four-hour experience worth building into your trip. And then round off your stay with a dining experience at Amisfield restaurant, named the third best international restaurant in Food & Wine’s annual Global Tastemakers Awards.

Start Your Guzzi Journey
Raglan and Queenstown offer two very different flavours of New Zealand, but both are exceptional destinations for riders seeking rewarding roads, memorable stops, and the freedom of exploring on a Moto Guzzi.
