No matter the season, Kiwis enjoy a good chinwag year-round. So, wherever your Moto Guzzi touring takes you across New Zealand, brushing up on some "sweet as” Kiwi lingo will have you talking like a true-blue local in no time.
Easy going, friendly, cheeky, and full of character, a conversation with a Kiwi is sure to make you smile. So, whether you're motorcycling around the Coromandel or cruising the Catlins, here’s a few Kiwi-isms to carry with you . . .

- Sweet / Sweet As
Sweet as can mean cool, no worries, sounds good, thank you or even you’re welcome.
“Reckon we cruise through the Forgotten Highway?” “Sweet as!”
- She’ll Be Right / No worries
When you encounter something off or things go sideways (like a few stray sheep wandering the road) you'll hear these words. It’s the Kiwi way of saying: No stress, we’ve got this.
“She’ll be right. Let’s give them a nudge into the paddock.”
“No worries, we’ll just wait our turn.”
- Choice
This means awesome, excellent, legendary.
“That V7’s looking pretty choice with those panniers!” “Cheers, bro!”
- Tu Meke
A way to say thanks that carries a bit more weight, perfect when someone helps you out.
“I grabbed you a flat white from the service station.” “Tu meke!’
- Yeah, Nah
A classic Kiwi contradiction. A gentle way of saying no.
“Want to ride on to the next town?” “Yeah, nah. Keen to put my feet up and enjoy the view.”
Ready to Ride? Keen as!
A trip around NZ on a Moto Guzzi isn’t just about the roads, it’s about the vibe. So, pack your gear, and get on over here, we’ll suss you a ride that’s sweet as from start to finish.
